An IME is someone who is hired by the defense in your Maryland injury case to review your claims.
Even though they go by the name independent they are far from it, seeing as they are hired guns for the defense and insurance companies.

Because the IME is hired on by the defense or the insurance company, their opinion is going to more than likely support the defense’s position.
This means that the IME will be contrary to your position.
Do not be shocked to learn that the IME has said that you are not injured, or that you should have already recovered from your injury.
The IME doctor may also come to the conclusion that your injury could not have happed as you have reported.
SO IS THE IME CALLING ME A LIAR???!!!
The IME is usually not going to come straight out and call you a liar.
However, he or she will use code words to say as much.
For example, the IME may come to the conclusion that “with this type of injury it generally takes people 3 weeks to heal” but in your case it is taking longer.
The IME may also say that in their examination of you they cannot understand where you are even injured.
All of these explanations, and many more, suggest that you are faking your injury and essentially lying.
IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO COMBAT THIS?
A good before and after witness can be used to contradict the findings and position of the IME.
The before and after witness is someone who has had an opportunity to observe you before your injury and they can testify as to what they have seen of you since your injury.
