Mother Related Injuries Due To Preeclampsia
As previously mentioned, preeclampsia can yield catastrophic results in the baby if not handled properly. Below you will find different types of injuries that a mother can suffer from when dealing with preeclampsia [1]:
Renal Failure
Blood Clotting
HELLP Syndrome: HELLP means hemolysis (loss of red blood cells), elevated liver enzymes and low platelet count. This condition occurs when preeclampsia is severe and can be fatal for the mother and baby.
Common Symptoms for HELLP
Vomiting
Upper Right Abdominal Pain
Severe Headaches
Eclampsia: This is a form of uncontrolled preeclampsia which has common symptoms of preeclampsia plus seizures. When doctors diagnose that eclampsia is present, delivery of the baby is the most common course of action due to the seriousness of the mother and baby suffering from an injury.
