HERE COMES THE BACK AND FORTH…
After you file your case the back and forth begins on both sides. For example, after the defendants are served they will file an answer to your complaint. Add to this, both sides will serve each side with written discovery.
Written discovery helps both sides narrow the issues down for trial. Discovery tools such as interrogatories, which are written questions, are a type of discovery tool available for both sides.
In addition to written discovery, “spoken” discovery can happen in the form of depositions. A deposition is a question and answer session in which both sides can ask questions of each other, again to help narrow the issues for trial.
