In this video attorney Marcus Boston discusses how a delay in a cancer diagnosis can cause serious issues to a patient down the road. Even though the patient in the video did complain of primary issues such as hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia, there were other signs that pointed to the need of more testing.
The patient, in passing told the doctor that he was also suffering from back pain, insomnia, and tongue pain/mouth pain. The doctor diagnosed the patient with aphthous stomatitis, prescribed an oral steroidal cream, and told the patient to follow up in a few months. When the patient returned, he had a bleeding tongue lesion and a biopsy revealed that it was cancerous.
